I’m Joanna.

I explore how nations earn trust, legitimacy, and influence in a changing world.

In the current climate, it’s clearer than ever that a country’s global standing is determined not only by its policies and behavior, but also by the clarity and coherence of its narrative.

Throughout my career as a founder and CEO of an NGO, and a best-selling author, speaker, and consultant, I have focused on developing the strategy behind how Israel communicates its values, strengths, and story to the world.

Today, I serve as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Abba Eban Institute for Diplomacy and Foreign Relations at Reichman University.

In this role, I work with the Institute’s Reputational Security Lab to shape how democracies around the world align their enduring story, long-term strategy, and short-term responses to strengthen their global positioning.

For more than 15 years, I have applied place branding, digital strategy, and behavioral insights to improve Israel’s image. In 2011, I founded Vibe Israel, a Tel-Aviv based NGO that generated over a billion positive mentions about Israel online. The organization was a finalist for both the “Best Use of Social Media'' and “Best Use of Data” awards from City Nation Place, a prestigious global forum of place branding experts.

In 2023, I co-authored the best-selling book, “Ethical Tribing: Connecting the Next Generation to Israel in the Digital Era,” which presents a strategy for reclaiming global appeal for Israel, especially among Millennials and Gen Z.

In the immediate aftermath of October 7, I served as a consultant for government offices, international Jewish organizations, and Israeli war rooms on how to effectively promote Israel’s offerings and counter the anti-Israel narrative on social media and offline.

A Cambridge-educated lawyer and entrepreneur, I have been involved in a range of national and educational initiatives at the intersection of policy, academia, and Jewish identity, including serving on the Board of Directors of Tel Aviv Global & Tourism, as a governor of Tel Aviv University, and a founding member of TAU Aurion, the university’s global young leadership community. I am also an advisor to the Global Jewry initiative and serve on the Public Committee of BINA: The Home of Israeli Judaism, and the International Education Committee of Taglit Birthright Israel.

I am a proud recipient of the Forum Dvorah Award for Foreign Policy, and I was chosen by Forbes Israel as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Israel.

“As the story of Jewish peoplehood continues to unfold, Joanna’s work offers a paradigm-shifting and creative approach to addressing some of the most acutely pressing questions facing the Jewish people today. Her book deserves to be widely read and meticulously applied.”

- Isaac Herzog, President of the State of Israel

“Joanna Landau is the most powerful and engaging positive speaker on the circuit today. She has been a keynote speaker to large audiences and a facilitator of thought to select groups. She always offers a fresh, data-driven perspective in an entertaining way. I recommend her to surprise and delight your audiences, as she has done for us.”

- Russell Robinson, CEO, Jewish National Fund USA

“We have been delighted to include Joanna as a speaker at our City Nation Place Conference. She provides a critical and thoughtful approach to the practice and potential of place branding strategies and a professional approach to presenting and sharing her experience with the audience.”

- Clare Dewhurst, Director, City Nation Place

“Joanna is inspiration with a capital "I." In everything she does she instills faith, grace and charisma. There are those who dream and talk and there are those who simply "do." Joanna is of the second type. She is changing this country and the world one bit at a time, with integrity, drive and passion.”

- Donna Griffit, Corporate Storyteller and Pitch Alchemist for Start Ups, Best Selling Author
